Whyyyy are they hereeeeee?? Someone told me to be free of mosquito attacks you must send them love. I completely resonate with this, I know this is true. And yet I don’t know how to do it, like authentically and practically do it. How do you truly love your enemy? How do you love someone or something that harms you repeatedly? That’s a massive skill, a massive power. And I do believe that is the way. But hoowwww? This guy told me his way was to use the potent mantra Ho-oponopono which means asking for forgiveness and sending love. You say 'I love you, I'm sorry, Please forgive me, thank you.' I did this repeatedly and I felt the power of its healing effect. I become more relaxed in my body, more soft, open-hearted and out of my mind and negative thinking/feeling. I directed this mantra to the mosquitoes and I truly felt it. This was the hard part in the beginning. Why was I saying sorry to the mosquitoes? Why was I asking for forgiveness from them? They're the ones that hurt me!! The explanation behind Ho'oponopono is that you understand and recognize that everything, every person in your field of consciousness, everything that exists in your reality, is a part of you, is you, created by you. There is no inner world and outer world. Therefore you have full responsibility for each person you meet, each interaction, each experience. If you don't like something, if you have some kind of problem, it is your job to heal it within yourself and see how it heals on the outside. We can change any situation and even any person just by taking responsibility and healing it ourselves. So we ask for forgiveness that this problem is occurring in our created reality, then we send it love, give it away to God and say thank you for the forgiveness and the healing, for allowing it to be let go. It's powerful yet incredibly simple. It's the secret of life. I love it. I notice when I focus on this mantra the mosquitoes do go. Not 100% of the time, but I do see the effect. It doesn't last though. Why? Because I notice they come around the time of similar thought patterns, and those are still running through me. Usually it has to do with thoughts around believing my lack of worth. Or anger towards someone or something, and feeling the need to protect myself. These thoughts occur as a result of feeling low, small, lonely, unimportant and NEEDY. Basically when I'm hiding and giving up responsibility to love myself. To honor myself. And to connect with God spirit inside me. These mosquitoes really bring light to these destructive patterns, if we can simply put some awareness to the moment they come for us, it may just shed some light on something we might be overlooking. Mosquito metaphor is everywhere, always. Life is full of 'buzzing mosquitoes,' in different forms. Whether it's an actual mosquito or a mosquito type. One day I was feeling so fed up and overwhelmed with life and I just wanted to be in peace. I went to a cafe to relax and write a bit. They had an outdoor garden I wanted to sit in, totally quiet, spacious and calm. But after some time of sweet peace in the beautiful trees..here comes the mosquito attack! I go back inside the cafe to escape the mosquitoes, and then I find there is NOISE..another mosquito type of buzzing and bothering. People, loud, distracting, chaotic energy flying everywhere. There is no escape. There is only meeting it all. I'm being forced to stand my ground, create my own bubble and FOCUS on ME. Sure, we are made of energy and therefore are affected by our environment and we can choose where we place ourselves to be around the energy we want for ourselves. I could simply leave the cafe and find another place that's quiet. But how long will I be running around searching for the 'perfect place of peace'? In this kind of situation where it's clear to me I'm fighting with something no matter what I do, I know I need to face it inside myself. So do you want mosquitoes to bite you in the peaceful outdoors, or do you want your body to not be under attack, but just feel energetically quite challenged? Well, I'll have to go with the energy challenge over the physical body challenge, as that is something I can work with more. When I first just sat at the table inside and surrendered to the pain, disappointment of being in the midst of this chaotic music/people/café noises and energy after being outside with the calm beautiful wind and rain, gentle, I started to cry. I felt so sad to be apart from the peace of nature. So so sad. Yet nature also sucks with its mosquitoes attacking me everywhere. Which is why I say 'mosquitoes' are everywhere. Something will always be there to BUG you. I cannot keep waiting for my environment to make it easy for me. Instead I need to create the peaceful environment I want within myself. And again, the mosquitoes are here to help :) My theory is that actually the mosquitoes are healing us. Not just symbolically, but their actual bites too! Mosquito acupuncture! They are like little acupuncture needles, hitting us right in the spots that we need more blood flow. When mosquitoes bite you, their saliva produces a release of histamine in the body, which then increases the blood flow as white blood cells rush to heal the infection. So actually, the mosquito bite is stimulating more healing to occur in this particular spot…and as far as I've seen…it tends to be the exact spots where I know I have tension, or where it really is a common acupressure point where there are blockages. Pretty fascinating! Not to mention, if you have the perspective towards any illness as being a gift (albeit an unpleasant one) to the body to provide more cleansing, then mosquitoes are on board with that too. When we get a cold or flu, the body goes through a time of much needed rest and purging that seems to be forced upon us because we had been overworking or overstressing and not paying attention to our bodies of our own accord. If the mosquitoes decide to gift you with all illness like dengue fever, Western Nile flu, or even malaria, it may have been the time that a major cleansing of the body was needed. That one may be harder to buy into if you were a victim of these highly difficult illnesses, but this is how it seems to make sense to me. Believing everything happens for a reason, and every system is always seeking to bring balance to itself, whether or not we like the way it chooses to do so. If we take our health into our own hands though, learning to listen to our body's signs of when it wants a good cleaning and wants us to take extra caution and care, we can avoid these larger catastrophic disasters and accidents. At that point it is just thrown onto us and we have no more choice in the matter. Whether it's an illness, a bike/car accident, a tsunami or an earthquake, these are all out of our control when they happen, but there may just be a way to prevent them coming if we take better care of ourselves, our society and our earth. Does that mean we should just sit and let all the mosquitoes come suck our blood? Definitely not. If you're going out into the wild (or just anywhere with lots of mosquitoes), it's still a good idea to wear an all natural mosquito repellant. Citronella, lemongrass, and lemon oil work well for me. It's good to be smart and protect our bodies, but if it does happen that you get an annoying buzz or bite, we have some cool new perspectives we can choose from. Is it a stretch to say thank you to the mosquitoes for the healing and greater awareness of our bodies? Wellll, I think not. And even if you don't believe in my theory, it's still much more pleasant to send love and gratitude to them when they strike, rather than be angry about it. So in any case, it's an opportunity to choose love and positivity, and turn a painful attack into an attack of love.
