Find your center, find your power, find your voice.
Join us for this exploration of sound and soul. Where we dive beyond the realm of thought, open our hearts and lift each other up through vocal improvisation. We'll use various fun and playful vocal exercises that allow for free, uninhibited vocal expression that's born of the moment.
Vocal Improvisation and group singing are great for:
* Increasing your self confidence
* Allowing yourself to speak more openly, directly, clearly and honestly
* Awakening your joy, passions, and creativity
* Connecting and grounding to your body
* Stepping out of your comfort zone, becoming more spontaneous, adventurous, alive and free
* Creating and feeling connection with community
* Feeling accepted, supported and heard
* Developing better listening and communication skills
* Allowing mistakes and quieting the need for perfection
Worried about singing in public or feeling your voice isn't "good enough"? Fantastic! We'll work through that together. This is NOT a singing performance or contest. This is a safe, judgment-free space for you to let your 'I'm alone in the shower' voice be free, and to feel supported by other people rather than the bathroom acoustics.
Working with our singing voice is not just about trying to sound good, although that's nice too! When we open our voice we open our ability to express ourselves in all areas of our life-how clearly and freely we speak our mind and our truth, how we stand up for ourselves, how we sense and communicate our desires, needs and boundaries, and how comfortable we are being who we want to be.
From the soft and sweet to the powerful, wild roar, all of what we want to express is beautiful and welcome.
By playing with our vocal volume, tone, style and range, we can expand our personal range of what's possible in our daily lives.
We will see that we don't have to work hard to make harmonies or pretty sounds, but that they come naturally when we are present, connected and open. We can make sounds that are in tune when we are in tune with ourselves. Using a mindfulness-based approach, we'll get to practice this together.
We've been singing before we ever had verbal language. Group singing has been used in every ancient culture to connect with earth, community and spirit, and to use this connection to manifest powerful intentions. It is used to gain access to a higher wisdom, to ease difficulty and pain, to celebrate life and to feel great joy. The vibrations of sound have been shown to have healing properties that calm the body, mind and spirit.
We all know how good it feels to make sound. Let's amplify it and see what we can create together!
