LET’S LOVE
LOVE YOUR BODY, MIND, AND SOUL.
LOVE THE WORLD.
This cow with a numbered label attached to its body is eerily reminiscent of Jews being stamped with a number in concentration camps. This is also much like how black people were treated in slavery. These races were not seen as human. They were seen as lower level vermin. Another species that were certainly of lower value and importance than the white supremacy. Not considered worthy of humane treatment. Expendable. Do we not see that this is EXACTLY how we view and treat animals? We think of them as lower, less important, that their lives have much less worth than ours, and we are entitled to treat them however we want, and exploit them for our own benefit. Because we are, of course, a superior race. It is difficult to be eating the flesh of a murdered animal and claim to not be racist. The very beliefs that produce racism are the same that permit and justify abuse and production of animal products. Consuming animal products requires continuously making a choice to value your life above another living creature's. That justification worked when we lived in the jungle and had to compete to fend for our survival, but that is now no loner the case. We discriminate against animals because they don't speak our language and they don't look or behave exactly as we do. It's the same thing we still do to other humans. We think they're different because they look different, communicate differently, need different things. But they are living, breathing creatures on this planet who feel pain and suffer, who innocently exist on this planet and deserve the same care and respect as any other living being would want. They just want to play, love and have freedom to enjoy their lives, the same as we do. How can we own a pet and still eat meat? We adopt these sweet animals into our homes, they become apart of our family. We feel their sweet, pure innocence, much like a baby. We love having this pure energy around us, they make us smile, they remind us of pure, unconditional love. They have personalities, they're playful, fun, kooky and silly. We love it. And yet somehow we justify torturing and murdering other animals with no regard for their same sweet innocence and their right to be alive, playful and enjoying life. We're selfish. We use animals for our own benefit and gratification. To satisfy our taste buds or for our entertainment. We use them for our entertainment in zoos, in parks, in the circus, to do tricks for us and watch them squirm about in caged and controlled environments. We build prisons for them and then make them do a dance for our pleasure. And as much as we pay money to see these animals look cute and sweet and do amazing things, we then hypocritically turn a blind eye to the cruelty towards these animals, happening in factories and farms right nearby our homes, just so we can mindlessly and carelessly indulge in a fatty burger. Medium rare please. That's how I like my dead cow parts. Still dripping with its fresh blood. It feeds our subconscious desire to dominate. To feel like the superior race. What luxury to bite into another animal that was murdered for your pleasure. Would you throw your dog into a cage with other dogs, fatten them up and then have them slaughtered and smashed into pieces for making yourself a nice, juicy hot dog? No of course not, that's gross. Or you might say, well I only eat free-range, hormone-free, organic, farm-raised, cruelty-free meat. Okay. So you would just let your dog roam in a bit more space without pumping it with hormones and then 'organically' murder it to smash and fry its body parts into a tasty meal for yourself. Discarding, of course, the pieces of your dog that are of no value to you and your taste buds. Oh no, I don’t have a factory do it for me, I am much more conscious than that. I raise my own animals on my land and kill them myself. I see. So you prefer to raise your animals in your own home, see them grow from a sweet little baby, feed them, care for them in your yard, and then murder them, chop them up and eat their body parts for dinner. How do you explain suddenly killing the family dog for dinner to your children? They wouldn't let you do it. But I guess if you raise other 'less important' animals in your backyard, without letting them into the house, you don't form emotional bonds with them, they don't feel part of the family and therefore their lives are much more expendable. Or perhaps you've created such a solid line in your belief system that divides dogs and cats, believing they have more lovability and value, while all other animals are meant for our consumption. I think that we domesticated dogs and cats so much to fit our own needs as humans, that only once we made them 'more like us', they were deemed worthy to be loved with care and welcomed into our homes and hearts. Other animals less domesticated to serve our needs the way we want them to, are still more 'other' and 'wild' and untrustworthy. Is that again not the same mentality we've always had towards 'other' humans- other cultures who act differently which frightens us because it's not what we're used to? And until we domesticate and learn to control them, so that we're sure they can't hurt us with their odd ways, they won't be worthy of living amongst us. This is how we've always gone about treating other life forms, including members of our own species. We still do it to a degree with our family and friends, withholding our love and respect if they don't do things the way we want them to, if they don't conform to our same beliefs and ways of living. This is again, all just leftover primal fear that still lives in our system from the time when we had to protect ourselves in the wilderness. It served us well then, but now that we have evolved to create more intelligent systems for protection for ourselves, we no longer need to still carry those primal behaviors of fear and mistrust. We can let it go now that we've created a (for the most part) civil society where we are actually able to cohabitate quite peacefully. The times when it is not civil are when we are still acting out of these ancient fears and beliefs in our system. But we first need to see it and be aware of how we do this. In the way we are towards other people and towards all other living creatures that have no actual intention to harm us. It would seem absolutely crazy to make the comparison from an animal to a human child. To say, would you ever murder a child to chop it up and eat it, that would seem extreme, right? But that is exactly what the Nazis did. They did not eat the bodies, but they certainly had no problems rounding them up and throwing them into ovens to be cooked and discarded as trash. They were seen as expendable. This absolutely horrifying behavior happened because a horrible belief was born and then bought into. The belief that this particular race was not on the level of regular humans and were not worthy to live. It took one of the most horrifying events in human history for us to finally stand up to that belief and fight against it. To say NO. This is not true, this is abusive, this is completely wrong and we will not allow it any longer. Only then were the Nazis finally able to be defeated. When the world gathered enough collective strength to finally say NO to this injustice. Though sadly we are still fighting to say NO to this disgusting belief, and still fighting for these basic human rights everyday. Sadly we are still learning how to respect and treat fellow humans as equals. It's no wonder we would treat animals with such disregard if we still think certain humans deserve worse treatment than others. There are horrible acts happening towards other people just because of their race, gender, beliefs, sexual preferences, all around the world, every single day. Just because of old beliefs we held about white supremacy and religious beliefs we think are more worthy than others'. This is absolutely ridiculous, outdated and disgusting behavior. But I don't even want to speak about this now, because it seems so obvious and the people who will be reading this will most likely be already beyond that level of human intolerance. I speak now to those people who proudly call themselves conscious, intelligent and aware enough to be nonracist, non bigots towards other HUMANS, but who still carry these same old beliefs about the worth of innocent animal lives. When will we finally see that we're holding onto an old, false belief about animals being way too different from humans, not on the same level, and therefore worthy of lower consideration and treatment? We already KNOW for a fact we do not require animal flesh nor any kind of animal related product to survive. The excuse about 'the way the food chain works' and that we need meat to live is absolutely invalid now. There was a time when it was true, but it no longer is, and anyone still fighting that fact is still just in denial and trying to justify holding onto their old habits for their own self indulgence. We now live in a modern age where we are swimming in a surplus of food, more than we know what to do with, and we are no longer living in severe physical conditions where we require dense, heavy foods like meat and animal products to survive. We are more than okay on a plant-based diet in our now ease and luxury-filled lifestyles. In fact it the plant-based diet is the only diet that has been proven again and again to lead to greater health and even cure many serious ailments. Vegetarians and even those 'extreme and crazy vegans' not eating anything that involves harming an animal (dairy and eggs), can, and are more likely to be healthy. Remember back when it was so beyond comprehension to just be a vegetarian? Our grandparents were certain that you would DIE if you didn't eat meat. That's how strong our belief systems are that keep us in ignorant and in destructive patterns. There's more than enough scientific research and more than enough human bodies out there proving that the vegan diet is not only something we can survive on, but is in fact THE MORE HEALTHY OPTION. Have you ever seen an obese vegan? I haven't. We all intuitively know all this is true, we just can't bring ourselves to admit the severity of these life choices and habits we so desperately want to cling to. Nobody dies from becoming vegan. However, many many many many people die all over the world every single day from overconsumption of animal fats. Heart disease, cancer, stroke and obesity are the leading causes of death now. And all of these are linked to the consumption of animal products, with so many studies showing vegetarians have a much lower rate of these diseases. It's been proven again and again that our hearts get physically clogged by too much unhealthy cholesterol which ONLY COMES FROM ANIMAL PRODUCTS. Proof again and again and again. It's closing up your heart! It's such a clear manifestation of what happens when you choose to ignore your human innate gift of compassion, love and care for others. When we make choices out of hate, murder, and disrespect, our physical heart organ gets clogged. We block our own heart with these heartless choices. Plain and simple. As if all this isn't enough, the production of these animal products is actually the NUMBER ONE cause BY FAR of all the pollution on this planet. The leading factor in global warming. Not the CO2 emissions by transportation that we've been told about. Becoming vegan saves your health, saves the animals, saves the planet, and frankly, it makes you a better person as your sense of compassion and empathy increase. **If we had to choose the single thing we could all do as individuals in our daily lives to make a major positive impact in our personal lives, our society and the environment, going vegan is it.** We are finding it hard to just say No. No to our own self abuse and destruction of our health. No to the abuse of these sweet innocent animals. And No to the pollution and destruction of our planet that the meat, egg and dairy industries are harming. Still, people simply can't let go of their steaks and eggs. Man, old habits absolutely DIE HARD. It's so sad that many would rather be unhealthy and die than change an old beloved belief system and habit. But the concept of holding onto a harmful habit is certainly not new. Meat is the new cigarette. Many will let it go, but still you will have people holding on. It's only a matter of time, just as with cigarettes, soon it will be widespread knowledge that animal products are outright disgusting and dangerous. Only now we're not just talking about a substance that's gross and unhealthy, we're talking about torture and murder of living creatures as well...you'd think it would be an easier one to give up, but oddly enough, it makes it more 'personal' and this moral/ethical element actually makes it even harder for people to let go. It's such an old primal, ANIMAL instinct that still lives in the human, to want to hunt, dominate, conquer and kill. It's quite the vicious (pun intended) cycle--eating animals enhancing the animal in you that makes you want to eat more animals. It takes a higher human capacity for intellect and compassion to step out of this cycle and move along our evolution towards a truly more intelligent being. A human being that is not ruled by primal instincts, but instead has the power of choice made from love. We would not, and we could not, have had Donald Trump as president if we all became vegans. It would not be possible. Donald Trump is the result of every horrible habit and decision we ever made as humans. He is a representation of every way that we lie to ourselves, make poor decisions, ignore our intuition, our heart, our humanity. If we were vegan we would not be creating and sending any energy in voting for Donald Trump and everything he stands for. We would not be voting for abuse. We would not be voting for greed and selfishness and overindulgence. We would not be voting for unconscious behavior, for separation and degradation of people based on race or gender. We would not be voting for white supremacy and corporate giants and choosing money and power over heart and soul. We would not be voting for utter ignorance. For old habits, old thinking, for old, white, rich men obsessed with power. He IS the primal animal in us that makes us want to feed and prey on other animals. 'Trump Steaks' says it all. This is a major time where all our old belief systems are rising to the surface to be seen. We have the opportunity now to stare it straight in the face and make a new choice. What's it gonna be? I'm hoping we finally decide to choose love, compassion and respect for life. For all of life. For ourselves, and for all of life's creatures on this planet, and for the planet that holds all of this life together.
